Conducted an independent study on mixed uranium-plutonium oxide (MOX) fuel<\/a>\u00a0with a number of prominent researchers from Europe, the U.S.A., and Japan. The Research Director of the\u00a0International MOX Assessment<\/i>\u00a0(IMA) project Dr. Jinazaburo Takagi, together with the Research Sub-Director Mycle Schneider, received the Right Livelihood Award for this study and activities relating to plutonium issues. The results of this project have been published in Japanese, English, French, and Russian.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

2003<\/td>\nTogether with Japan Congress Against A- and H- Bombs hosted a public debate with the Atomic Energy Commission entitled\u00a0Thinking about the Reprocessing and Nuclear Fuel Cycle Policy<\/i>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
2004<\/td>\nCo-Director Hideyuki Ban became the first ever anti-nuclear member of the Atomic Energy Commission’s\u00a0Long-Term Nuclear Program<\/i>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
2004<\/td>\nPublished the 100th edition of\u00a0Nuke Info Tokyo<\/a>\u00a0English language newsletter.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
2007<\/td>\nYukio Yamaguchi, a Co-Director of CNIC, along with 3 other scientists and engineers established the\u00a0Group of Concerned Scientists and Engineers Calling for the Closure of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant<\/i>.<\/a>. The group has published several papers critiquing the government’s and TEPCO’s analysis of the July 16, 2007 Chuetsu-oki Earthquake and its significance for the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant.\u00a0One paper was translated into English.<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
2010<\/td>\nCo-Director Hideyuki Ban joins the Atomic Energy Commission’s Nuclear Policy-Planning Council to present the case for a nuclear phase out.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
