Costings for Direct Disposal of Spent Nuclear Fuel<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
The following tables and diagrams are taken from calculations of cost comparisons for four scenarios for dealing with spent nuclear fuel. The costings were made by theNew Nuclear Policy-Planning Council<\/i>\u00a0Secretariat. The\u00a0New Nuclear Policy-Planning Council<\/i>\u00a0was established within the\u00a0Atomic Energy Commission of Japan<\/a>\u00a0to consider the new Long-Term Nuclear Program. It has been holding deliberations since June 2004 and handed down an\u00a0interim report<\/a>\u00a0dealing with Japan’s reprocessing policy on 12 November 2004.Table 1: Major Parameters<\/a><\/b>Table 2a<\/b><\/a>\u00a0is for cases where the canisters are buried vertically. These cases were used in the costing of the\u00a0four scenarios<\/a>.<\/p>\n
