Results of analyses of fish and shellfish in the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station port<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) has sampled and analyzed fish and shellfish in the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (FDNPS) port and in an area of ocean up to 20 km from the power station, releasing the Cs-134 and Cs- 137 data as a Cs total in the form of a PDF file.1 Sampling and analysis in the port began in October 2012.<\/p>\n

Here we show the changes in the total Cs concentration (Bq\/kg) for fish and shellfish in the port. (N.D. [detection limit] differs depending on the measurement method, but is around several Bq\/kg.<\/p>\n

The declining trend in the concentration values reached a minimum in 2020 and has failed to decline since then.<\/p>\n

Changes in the numbers of Fukushima Prefecture evacuees, number of people living in districts where the evacuation order has been lifted, and numbers of students at elementary and middle schools are shown.<\/p>\n

It has been reported that the total number of Fukushima Prefecture evacuees both outside the prefecture and inside the prefecture is 24,639 people (as of February 2025). However, the number of voluntary evacuees is not captured in the statistics, and people who continue to live in evacuation are excluded from the statistics as evacuation orders are lifted. Government statistics do not therefore give a true picture of the realities of evacuation. What is the actual situation with evacuations? Looking at former evacuation order zones, the number of registered residents and the actual number of people living in the zones differs by 38,606. If voluntary evacuees were included, it would be seen that larger numbers of people are still living in evacuation. The current statistics are unable to capture the realities of the situation and are little more than a recovery masquerade.<\/p>\n

Student numbers in the elementary and middle schools in the former evacuation order zones have fallen greatly since the nuclear accident, being 8,348 before the accident and currently 1,241. However, in association with the establishment of areas from which the evacuation order has been lifted and designated recovery and revitalization areas, the figure of 863 students in 2018 is on a rising trend.<\/p>\n
