Conducted an independent study on mixed uranium-plutonium oxide (MOX) fuel with a number of prominent researchers from Europe, the U.S.A., and Japan. The Research Director of the International MOX Assessment (IMA) project Dr. Jinazaburo Takagi, together with the Research Sub-Director Mycle Schneider, received the Right Livelihood Award for this study and activities relating to plutonium issues. The results of this project have been published in Japanese, English, French, and Russian.

Co-Director Hideyuki Ban became the first ever anti-nuclear member of the Atomic Energy Commission's Long-Term Nuclear Program. |

Published the 100th edition of Nuke Info Tokyo English language newsletter. |

Yukio Yamaguchi, a Co-Director of CNIC, along with 3 other scientists and engineers established the Group of Concerned Scientists and Engineers Calling for the Closure of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant.. The group has published several papers critiquing the government's and TEPCO's analysis of the July 16, 2007 Chuetsu-oki Earthquake and its significance for the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant. One paper was translated into English. |
